Dan
Guitar/Vocals
Dan Christianson is the kind of songwriter who treats sleep like an optional hobby. Raised in the wide-open wind tunnels of Grand Forks, North Dakota, he came up surrounded by long winters, loud stereos, and the quiet suspicion that music might be the only sane response to the whole strange experiment. A tenor singer with a voice built to ride above a wall of horns and skanking guitars, Christianson writes songs the way some people dig ditches—relentlessly and with a stubborn belief that the next shovel of dirt might reveal something important. Chords, hooks, half-mad lyrical ideas scribbled on scrap paper—it’s all part of the daily grind.
By daylight hours he walks the straight line of civilization as a band director at West Fargo High School, guiding young musicians through the noble chaos of scales, marches, and the occasional glorious train wreck of a rehearsal. But when the bell rings and the fluorescent lights fade, the other side of the operation kicks in. Christianson slings a guitar across his shoulder, occasionally picks up a trumpet, and leans into the electric pulse of ska and reggae with the loose confidence of a man who has spent a lifetime inside band rooms and backlines.
As a founding member and lead singer of The Wicked Bees, Christianson helped build the band from the ground up—song by song, gig by gig, like a musical roadside attraction that refuses to disappear. Onstage he’s equal parts ringleader and conspirator, driving the band forward with jangling guitar, bright horn lines, and that unmistakable tenor voice cutting through the smoke. Tireless by nature and slightly unhinged in the best possible way, Dan Christianson keeps writing, keeps playing, and keeps chasing the next great groove like it might be hiding just over the horizon.
